Emberheaven
Emberheaven is a place to remember the people you love. We take the privacy of your memories seriously. This policy explains what we store, how it is used, and the control you have over it.
Account Information
To save your lights across devices, Emberheaven uses an account. You can sign in with an email address and password, with Apple (on iOS), or with Google. We store your email address to operate your account, secure sign-in, and support recovery. We also keep an internal account ID and your optional display name so your private lights, shared keeping relationships, preferences, and purchases stay attached to the right account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only your email address and basic profile information needed to create the account — never your password or contacts. If you choose Apple's Hide My Email, we receive only the private relay address Apple creates for you. We never post anything on your behalf.
What You Create
The content you add is private to your account and is used only to provide the app:
- Lights (souls): the name, color, scene, optional relationship, optional remembrance date, optional public nickname, and an optional photo you choose to add.
- Memories: anything you write on a light's memory wall.
- Remembrance blessings: the silent, anonymous notes of comfort you send to other lights in the public Heaven.
- Custom backgrounds: background images you choose to upload for your scenes (an Emberheaven+ feature). They are stored privately, shown only to you, and deleted when you remove them or delete your account.
- Preferences: your display name, current scene, background choices, and reminder settings.
We use this information only to save and sync your lights, show the scenes and memories you choose, manage private Family and Friends access, schedule reminders you enable, and let you edit or delete your content later. We do not sell this information or use it to build advertising profiles.
Safety Checks
User-submitted text may be processed by automated safety tools and service providers to help prevent spam, abuse, unsafe content, or policy violations. These checks are used only to keep Emberheaven safe and respectful, not for advertising.
What Others Can See
The public light sea is built to protect the people you remember. When you choose to share a light publicly, others can only ever see an optional nickname and a color — never the real name, dates, photos, memories, or your identity. The Family and Friends scenes are completely private and never appear publicly. Remembrance blessings are anonymous: a blessing you send appears as a warm note on that light, but your identity is never attached, and there is no messaging or reply.
Information Stored On Your Device
- Your sign-in session, so you stay logged in.
- Reminder preferences and permission state, so local notifications keep working.
- Basic app settings such as sound.
Notifications
Reminders are off by default. If you turn them on, the app schedules local notifications on your device for a gentle daily moment and for remembrance dates. Timing and delivery are handled locally by your operating system.
Purchases
Emberheaven+ is an optional one-time purchase processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We use a purchase-validation service (RevenueCat) to confirm your unlock. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by the app store. We store only the purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Plus, restore purchases on your devices, and handle refunds, transfers, or downgrades correctly.
Service Providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run the app: a hosting and database provider (Supabase) that securely stores your account and content, the Apple and Google platforms for app distribution, in-app purchases, and notifications, a purchase-validation service, and limited safety tools for content moderation. We do not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics that profile you.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as needed with the service providers above to operate Emberheaven, or where required by law.
Your Control
You can edit or remove any light — including its photo and memories — at any time from the Profile panel. The same panel offers Delete Account, which permanently removes your lights, memories, and photos. This action cannot be undone. Learn more on our Account and Data Deletion page.
Children's Privacy
Emberheaven is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Any new version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
